The Concept
When we first started iterating parts of the billboard imagery, it was important that we opted for a style that showcased black girlhood in a vibrant and jovial manner. This was to make sure the link between the billboard and the Black Girls in Britain collection had a close tie and link.
During this process myself (Martha Omasoro), Eboni Lamine and Denisse Ariana Pérez first looked at a couple visual styles to bring this concept to life. My first trial was a monochromatic scheme that juxtaposed the harsh realities of adultification bias once it influences the upbringing of a young black girl. Please see the example below.
